Mentoplasty is intended to augment the projection and/or contour of the chin through the insertion of an implant. It may also intend to reduce the projection of the chin.
It is a surgery frequently associated with a plastic surgery on the nose (Rhinoplasty), liposuction of the neck or facial plastic surgery, in order to harmonize the silhouette of the face and facial profile.
Silicone, bone, or synthetic implants may be used.
The duration of the surgery is that of approximately 1 hour, being performed as an ambulatory procedure, under local or general anesthesia.
Facial edema may occur and last for a period of 1 to 2 weeks. First results may be seen in the first weeks following the procedure. Results are permanent.
Before and After - The Federal Board of Medicine forbids the display of pictures of patients who underwent plastic surgery.
